Elk Scratching Posts at Hurn Field

There was this great plan to make an Elk Scratching device to keep the elk from rubbing on the new trees.  8 foot scrubbers from a street sweeper!

Too heavy for the crew to lift up and push into the holes!

We used two trucks and a gin-pole!

"Beautiful, isn't it?" "I dunno.  I never saw an elk even near that high."

It never really worked well and was removed after about 5 years of standing out there, bringing questions of wonderment from all visitors!"

Do we have a Plan B?

I don't think them up, I just take the pictures!
