Utopia "Earth Day" Tree Planting
April 25, 2015
A joint effort of the Skagit Land Trust and the Skagit Fisheries Enhancement Group brought a BIG group (80+) of folks out on this  VERY RAINY and MUDDY day.

Planting up to 3,000 trees in some big open areas at the Utopia Conservation site on the Skagit River and Wiseman Creek east of Sedro Woolley.

Celebrating Earth Day (45th) by doing some good for the Earth!  (And ourselves as well.)

MUDDY!
RAINY!
Here are some of the trees.  You can see the sizes.  Quite a variety of conifers and leafy ones.

All of them are "bare-root" so they go in fairly easily - and the ground is soft (mud, actually!) so digging the little hole is OK.

There are some various willow varieties and some twinberry which are just cuttings with no roots yet.  We just poke a hole and stick them in quite far.  Most will root and leaf quickly.
