Kahn (Rockport) Tree Planting   February 03, 2018

Here is a quite new site along the Skagit River.  It is on the north side beyond Rockport right by Cascadian Farms.  If you drive up that way you will recognize the big concrete "jacks" put along the bank to protect the road.  A crew of Land trust employees and volunteers planted a bunch of potted plants and also some willow whips right in the area that sometimes floods.

Good to protect the little plants - especially with this mesh to let silt through if high water comes!  A work party in two or three years or so will come back and get them off.

Beavers!  Eat the willow - but then often a clump of willows sprout off the stump so maybe a good combination.
