Samish Island - Flower Farm
  Ivy Pull  -  February 23, 2019
More than 30 folks came out on a chilly morning for the FIRST EVER work party at the JUST AQUIRED Samish Flower Farm property!

Mainly ivy pulling along the trail and banks leading down to the beach.

We gathered at the church and walked down from there and got oriented and instructed.
When high on tree, cut off the bottom and pull out the roots.
The piles are big, the snack-bell has rung, let's take a break!!!!
The bank is steep on both sides of the trail and the ivy is well concealed in the underbrush.  It is tough work pulling it out.  We pile it on cardboard on the trail to prevent re-rooting.  Here are pictures of many of the hard workers!!!
There are BIG trees on the property,  No doubt someone will count these rings!

There are also several big invasive holly bushes for another removal party.

A birding walk and talk follows the work.  Right on time come the extra birding folks - and the birds!
This is a BIG property.  Across the road is lots of land for future work parties and at the end of the trail is a spectacular beach for clean-up, exploring, public access, and interpretive and education activities.
THANKS Everybody!!!
