3 Land Trust staff and 7 volunteers came out to this great property on an early Friday morning.. Our aim is to plant about 120 potted trees of spruce and shore pines - on top of this canary grass infested area.
Here we are beginning to gather and then getting a planting demo.
Some of the helpers - good progress being made. Putting biodegradable mesh protectors around them to keep nibblers away.
Plenty of extra gloves and Land Trust snacks and literature.
No, Hal. It will not plant itself.
Three hours of hard work on a pretty day got a lot done.
Thanks everyone.
Tall protector, short fir!
On the left is the gate into the main, original property - taken this same day - you see how grown up the field behind it is.
On the right is the first install of that gate in 2006 when the field behind it was all reed canary grass and black berries!
