Minkler Lake Invasives Control
November 21, 2025
Land Trust staff and several volunteers came out to this great property on an early Friday morning.. Our aim is to get rid of invasive blackberry and butterfly bush that is encroaching on this 2 year old planting site.

Here we are beginning to gather and then getting oriented.
Some of the helpers - good progress being made.  Prune canes and make a pile, then dig out roots and toss on top to avoid re-rooting!  Pull out little butterfly bush sprouts and toss them on too.

A pile of pruned canes and digging out some roots.

Some tough-guy hillside work here too!

Got to take breaks and have some fun.

There were a few trees to plant here and there too.

Hard work and really great progress!  Going to get it all done in our 3 hour effort.

To the left is the site when it was planted in Nov. of 2023!

To the right is what we cleared out after just 2 years of growth.

And most of those little trees in the blue protectors have survived and grown a fair amount!

It was good to see.

Thanks everybody!!!!
