A whole bunch of the students at Emerson School came back for another go at pulling invasive ivy and piling it up on cardboard. Their teacher, some Land Trust staff and volunteers helped as well.
Here we are getting organized.
... and then trekking in to the work site.

Ivy grows way up the trees and can kill one.
We cut it off at about eye level and then pull it down and out of the ground around the tree..
Piling it on cardboard will dry it out and keep it from re-sprouting.
This is the patented and famous "Emerson Ivy Roll" which quickly pulls an enormous area of ivy up. Sometimes the roll is so big it needs to be cut into sections in order to lift it onto the cardboard!
They work so hard and fast that their teacher has to run just to keep up.
