Five REALLY hearty souls - staff and volunteers - came out on a chilly and rainy day to begin the attack on a newly discovered noxious weed on Land Trust properties - Yellow Archangel. It is on Barney Lake property just off of Martin Road in very dense underbrush, It seems to be a more or less circular patch perhaps 100 feet in diameter.
It is down this "trail", down an embankment, about 100 yards in.
The patch is very dense with long vines. Get it roots and all.
We worked for about 2 hours, until we filled all of our big black bags. Only half full because they are very heavy to haul back out. They nearly filled the truck. We cleared a ring about 3 or 4 feet wide around maybe half of the patch. Lots more work ahead!
Did we mention that it RAINED?
When we quit, so did the rain.
See more of you out there next time? New line item on your resume! Yellow Archangel.
