Can you imagine figuring out which nests are in which tree - and then accurately counting them?

That is why groups of 3 or 4 sets of eyes!

To the right is a nest that has fallen, or blown, down.  Those are noted.

Red flags from last year - still waiting this year count and reflagging with pink.  We record the species and condition of each tree too.

Here is a recorder - a pencil and nice little rite-in-rain notebook!

A lot of looking up, but good to look down some too.  Here is a pretty mushroom and a "blowdown" partially made with a long strand of wire!

And on the way back down too - very slippery, steep footing!
