Grandy Creek - Fence Removal and Tree Planting - March 17, 2018
Thirteen Land Trust staff, land stewards and volunteers came out on this nice morning to pull out a LOT of old fallen barbed wire fencing and also plant some trees.
Here is a demo. of using a new-style bio-degradable protector which should not need removing later on!
Besides dragging the wire out, it needs to be untangled and rolled for ease (and safety!) of transport.
It was quite a hike from parking to the work-site ... road in is too muddy for most vehicles now. But a pleasant time for the walk.
Eagles were active - here is a nest that appears to be under construction!
The property is at the confluence of Grandy Creek and the Skagit River. Here is the Skagit just downstream from the confluence.
Pulling it out and rolling it up.
A LOT more than this was taken away.
Pretty, expansive views at this property.
Very fine snacks and a BIG thanks for a lot of hard work and great progress.
