Four voluteers and two Land Trust staff met at Barney Lake, just outside of Mt. Vernon, on Saturday July 14.
Their mission was to cut blackberry that threatened the lives of innocent young trees and shrubs - many planted in February - and also to find more innocent young trees and shrubs lost in a sea of grass.
After three hours of hard, yet satisfying work under the July sun, they accomplished their mission! Future generatins will know their legacy when they witness a Barney Lake Conservation Area filled with native plants and trees and no blackberry.
Thank you, oh brave volunteers, Thank you.
