Eight volunteers came to Lyman Slough on a beautiful Spring day to help clear invasive reed canary grass and blackberry from around small trees and shrubs that were planted last February. The Lyman Slough Conservation Area is located on the edge of the town of Lyman, between the Cascade Trail and the Skagit River.
It was a very successful day. The volunteers played a major role in the survival of the young trees and shrubs, and in restoring the landscape for wildlife to use and for people to enjoy for generations to come.
We also enjoyed snacks and dwontime on the shore of the river, relaxing in the breeze and playing in the sand!
